95-97 Toyota Tercel short-throw Shifter installation guide
Installation:
1. remove the stock shift knob by turning it counter clockwise.
2. use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the 2 screws on each side of the console behind the shifter boot. Sliding seats fully back allows for easy access to the screws.
3. slide the front seats fully forward and remove the 2 screws on both sides of the center console behind the Philips screwdriver.
4. lift the rear part of the center console of the car and put the installation in a safe place.
5. position the clips on the front of the center console near the top. Push on the center portion of these clips to your finger or screwdriver, and then drag them to remove them.
6. drag the disk surrounding the stereo out of a little freedom in front of the console.
7. use pliers to remove the cigarette lighter power connector onto the steel retainer clip.
8. disconnect the power connector from the front part of the console's cigarette lighter.
9. the part in front of the center console can now be removed from the car. Lift up the rear and pull up and out of the car.
10. flat head screwdriver and a hammer to the clip on the passenger's side finishing off the shaft. Be careful at this stage, such as the clip can break off and become a dangerous projectile. Use the screwdriver and the plastic between the assembly and the clip and slowly work in the shaft. Alternatively, a Dremel tool can be cut off, as a new clip is included in the package.
11. remove the clip on the side of the L-shaped arm and slide off the side of the arm, the shift cable.
